High school graduation was never so dangerous as it turns out to be for Emily Kane. Defending herself against foreign agents is one thing, but when the threat comes from within Emily's own family the violence rises to a new level, and the need to reconcile herself with her inner demons has never been so urgent.

I'm a sucker for a good martial arts story, plain and simple. And this, as well as the previous two in the series, is exactly that. The martial aspects all ring true with my own training in Shotokan and the sub-culture surrounding folks who participate in such activities. Then there is the story itself which is every bit as engaging as those before and is a nice, seamless continuation of Emily's tale. While the plot is somewhat predictable, that is only based on all the setup that occurred in the earlier stories. What was nice was that Ms. Antione did not take the opportunity to drag out the story as so many authors seem to think they have to. So in this case, predictable was good as it fulfills what you want to see happen. This book is definitely a landmark in Emily's saga and you could walk away satisfied at this point if you wanted to. Of course, I won't - I like her too much to quit following her story at this point.Product details

Girl Takes Up Her Sword An Emily Kane Adventure Book 3 edition by Jacques Antoine Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
As the author polishes her craft I find myself less invited to accompany the characters on a journey as being grabbed by the hand and dragged will ye nil ye along in her path. This is getting much closer to the skill of a true master class story teller. Enjoy your trip!
I have read all previous books in the series, and I just bought Number 4.
I think that these books are easy to read, fast paced, fun and with a (so far) enigmatic story that does not with to reveal itself. Hopefully that Will not be the case as the series progress.
A good read!
This is a wonderful series. I can't seem to stop reading. It's rare I will buy a series so you can see how much I love them.
I'm rereading the series again in preparation for reading #7 for the first time. It (this book AND the series) continues to appeal to me.
Note that a 4 star rating from me is very high. I doubt that I have given 5 stars to 40 books out of the roughly 50,000 that I have read in my lifetime.
I read a lot of books, but I don’t like to give negative reviews because I figure that I am not qualified to criticize another person’s artistic work. I will say that I have read each of the five (so far) books in this series and I have enjoyed them immensely. In my opinion each book is as good as the others. I found them easily readable without a tendency for my mind to drift. For me that is high praise. I am giving this very positive review because I would like to help others looking for something good to read.
The third in this martial-arts/teenage spy series about a young girl's struggles with external enemies and internal fears is a great Young Adult novel, especially for girls. However all ages can enjoy this tale of a teenage girl on her own who could make Buffy the Slayer back up! Although the source of her unusual abilities remain a mystery, or rather, somewhat vague on which theory(s) is correct, she is becoming more well known and attracting more attention from adults with their own agenda. Which presents even more problems for Emily. I enjoyed it!
As always in this series, the fights are extremely detailed and exciting. The issue of her unrestrained independence is bothersome. No one, including adults who should, can influence or control Emily's behavior. For younger readers, this might not really be the best example to follow, although a certain degree of assertiveness is good.
Another solid entry in a series I'm very much enjoying. It's not as good as the first book, but probably a bit better than the second. Enough to get back up to that 5th star, I think. (The second went a little too high on the Improbability scale for my tastes.)
Emily's depth of character is continuing to develop as the books progress, which is a rare thing to find in a series. Old problems are solved, new ones arise, and Emily's philosophical nature continues to be a source of interest.
I'd advise you to skip the 45 page "novella" billed on as Emily Kane book 4 (too brief to develop anything and a waste of $3) and move on to book 5 of the series after reading this. I'm headed to book 5 myself now, and am interested to see how Emily continues to develop.
